A Phantom is a useful little creature that carries out a simple automated action for you. It takes an input, processes an action or scrapes information, and gives you an output file consisting of data or a summary of what it has done.
Phantoms are available for many networks/social media platforms (as we'll talk about later in the Networks & rate limits section of this guide). In fact, you will often find Phantoms performing the same kind of action for each network:
- [Network] Search Export: Exports search results
- [Network] Profile Scraper: Scrapes profile data
- [Network] Auto Commenter: Posts comments on posts
- [Network] Auto Liker: Likes posts
- [Network] Auto Follow: Follows people or accounts
Selecting a Phantom
To start using Phantombuster, you’ll have to check out the Phantom Store and select the Phantom you’re interested in:
When you click on “Use this Phantom”, you’ll be asked to set it up. Don’t worry if you’re not at ease during this step, you’ll be able to update the settings later.
You can use as many Phantoms as your subscription plan allows. You can also use multiple versions of the same Phantom.
Phantoms you’ve selected are stored in the Dashboard section of your account. From there, you can access each Phantom’s Console page (shown below) to manually launch it, edit its Setup, or find and download its results files:
All of these important topics are discussed later in the current section of this guide.
You can delete a Phantom if you don’t have any remaining slots in your current plan - just note that when you do so you’ll lose access to all the documents and data collected by the Phantom if you haven't download it beforehand.
