To connect your OpenAI account to PhantomBuster, go to the Advanced AI Enricher Phantom setup, select a GPT model, and paste your OpenAI API key. This lets you use your own OpenAI token balance instead of PhantomBuster AI credits. The Advanced AI Enricher is the only Phantom that supports a personal OpenAI key, all other AI Phantoms use your plan's included AI credits.
When and why to connect OpenAI
By default, PhantomBuster uses the AI credits included in your paid plan.
If you prefer to use your own OpenAI account, you can connect it directly, but only for one Phantom: the Advanced AI Enricher.
All other AI Phantoms: AI LinkedIn Message Writer, AI LinkedIn Profile Enricher and AI LinkedIn Post Responder, will continue to use your PhantomBuster AI credits, even if your OpenAI key is connected.
Step-by-step: How to connect your OpenAI API key
1. Get your API key from OpenAI
- Log into your OpenAI account and visit the API keys page.
- Click Create a new secret key.
- Copy the key and store it somewhere secure as you won't be able to view it again.
2. Open the Advanced AI Enricher Phantom in PhantomBuster
- Log in to your PhantomBuster workspace and go to the Solutions page.
- Search for the Advanced AI Enricher Phantom and click Use now to open the setup view.
3. Choose your GPT model
- In the Phantom's first setup step, select your preferred GPT model.
Each model has different capabilities and credit costs. Visit the OpenAI pricing page for more details.
4. Paste your OpenAI API key
- Once you choose a model, the Your OpenAI API Key field will appear

5. Save and launch
- Click Save to apply changes.
- Your Phantom will now use your OpenAI token balance when it runs.
If the API key field is left blank, PhantomBuster will use your included AI credits instead.
