Troubleshooting “Too Many Requests in Too Short a Time” Error

This guide explains why you may see the error message “You’ve made too many requests in too short a time. Please try again later” while using LinkedIn Phantoms, and how to adjust your setup to prevent it from happening again.

What does “Too many requests in too short a time” mean

This error comes directly from LinkedIn, not from PhantomBuster. It means that your account has made too many profile visits, searches, or actions in a short timeframe, triggering LinkedIn’s temporary rate limits.

Here’s what this typically involves:

  • Performing too many actions (like extracting, connecting, or visiting profiles) within a short period.
  • Running multiple Phantoms in quick succession without enough delay.
  • Processing large volumes of data per launch without spacing activity out.

When this happens, LinkedIn temporarily blocks additional activity from your account to protect against suspicious or automated behavior.

How to reduce activity and avoid this error

Spreading out your actions and reducing the intensity of Phantom launches can help you stay under LinkedIn’s radar.

Here are a few tips:

Reduce the number of actions per launch

In the Behavior step of your Phantom, lower the number of rows or profiles processed in each run.

For example, instead of processing 50–100 profiles, try limiting it to 10–20.

Space out your launches

In the Launch Settings, schedule your Phantom to run less frequently. Ideally every 2 to 4 hours instead of every hour.

This helps distribute your activity more naturally over time.

Pause and retry later

If the error has already occurred, we recommend pausing for 1–2 hours before relaunching your Phantom

This gives LinkedIn time to reset your activity quota.
