To pull PhantomBuster data into Clay, open a Clay workbook, click All Sources, search for PhantomBuster, select the Phantom you want to import from, and choose whether to fetch the latest results or a specific container. Clay imports the Phantom's output as rows in your table, and you can then add individual fields as columns to organize, filter, or enrich the data.

Step 1: Create a new Clay workbook or open an existing one

  • Open Clay and log into your account.
  • Click New Workbook to start from scratch or open an existing one.

Step 3: Select your Phantom & select the right container of results

  • Use the dropdown menu to choose the Phantom whose data you want to import.
  • You can then choose to only fetch the latest container to import the most recent data, or fetch a specific container by ID. For this example, we’ll go with the first option.
  • Click Submit to start the import.

Step 4: View the imported records

  • Clay will import your Phantom’s latest results as rows in your table
→ In our example, we have 140 records, which means 140 leads have been pulled in.
  • Click on any row to view the full data in JSON format.

To make the data usable in Clay:

  1. Hover over any data field in the JSON preview.
  2. Click Add as Column.
  3. Give your column a name.
  4. Click Create Column.

You can repeat the same steps to extract any other fields you want as additional columns. This helps you organize and structure the data for filtering or enrichment.

Step 6: Work with your imported PhantomBuster data

Once your fields are turned into columns, you can:

  • Filter and sort rows using Clay’s tools.
  • Enrich or tag leads using Clay automations.
  • Export or sync the structured data into your CRM or other tools.

Troubleshoot issues with Clay imports

If the data isn’t importing correctly:

  • Make sure the Phantom you selected has recent results.
  • Confirm your PhantomBuster account is connected properly to Clay.
  • Check that you’re using the latest container for up-to-date data.
  • Reach out to Clay support team or get in touch with our Customer Care Team.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import data from any Phantom into Clay?

Yes, as long as the Phantom has already run and has results available. Clay imports the output data, it doesn't launch the Phantom.

What is a "container" in PhantomBuster?

A container is a single execution run of a Phantom. Each time a Phantom runs, it creates a new container with its own set of results. You can choose to import the latest container or a specific one by ID.

How do I turn imported data into usable columns?

Click on any row to open the JSON preview, hover over a field, click "Add as Column," name it, and click "Create Column." Repeat for each field you need.

Can I automatically refresh the data from PhantomBuster?

Clay pulls data at the time of import. To get updated results, re-run the import after your Phantom has completed a new run.
