To push data from Clay to PhantomBuster, open your Clay workbook, click Actions, search for PhantomBuster, and select "Push Data." Choose the Phantom you want to trigger, map your Clay columns to the Phantom's input fields (such as LinkedIn profile URLs), and click Save and Run. Clay sends the leads to PhantomBuster, which launches the Phantom with your data.

Before you start

Make sure the Phantom you want to push data into is already created and fully set up in your PhantomBuster workspace.

From Clay, you'll be able to send leads and adjust the Phantom’s settings if needed, but the Phantom itself must already exist.

Step 1: Open your Clay workbook

  • Open Clay and log into your account.
  • Open the workbook that contains the leads you want to send to PhantomBuster.

Step 2: Open the Actions menu, search for PhantomBuster & select Push Data

  • In your Clay workbook, click the Actions button in the top right corner.

  • Use the search bar to type PhantomBuster, and select Push Data from the list of options. This sets up Clay to push data from your table into a Phantom

Step 3: Choose the Phantom you want to run

  • Select the Phantom you want to trigger with this data.
→ For our example, we'll select a LinkedIn Profile Scraper Phantom available in our PhantomBuster dashboard.

The Phantom must already exist and be set up in your PhantomBuster workspace.
In Clay, you’re selecting an existing Phantom to send leads to, it won’t create one for you.

Step 4: Configure your Phantom input and settings

  • Match the input fields in Clay with those required by your Phantom. The fields available here will depend on the Phantom you selected.
→ In our example, we'll map the LinkedIn profile URL column from our table to the corresponding Phantom field

  • Paste your LinkedIn session cookie into the required field so PhantomBuster can access your account.

  • If needed, you can adjust additional settings such as updating the Phantom's behavior.

Step 5: Add more output fields (optional)

  • Click Continue to view additional options.
  • You can choose to return data such as the run ID, timestamp, or Phantom results back into your Clay table.

Step 6: Save and run your setup

Troubleshoot issues with Clay exports

If your Phantom isn’t running or leads aren’t processing:

  • Make sure your Phantom is properly configured in PhantomBuster.
  • Confirm your LinkedIn session cookie is valid and up to date.
  • Check that the input fields are mapped correctly.
  • Try launching the Phantom manually in PhantomBuster to make sure the setup and inputs are correct.

Frequently asked questions

Can I push data to any Phantom from Clay?

Yes, as long as the Phantom already exists and is set up in your PhantomBuster Workspace. Clay sends leads to an existing Phantom, it doesn't create one for you.

What input fields do I need to map?

It depends on the Phantom you select. For example, a LinkedIn Profile Scraper needs LinkedIn profile URLs. Clay shows the required fields based on the Phantom's configuration.

Do I need to add my LinkedIn session cookie every time?

If the Phantom requires a session cookie (like LinkedIn Phantoms), you need to provide it in the configuration.

Can I get Phantom results back into my Clay table?

Yes. In Step 5, you can choose to return data like the run ID, timestamp, or Phantom results as additional columns in your Clay workbook.
