If you hit an error while connecting your LinkedIn account with your email and password, the message usually tells you exactly what to fix, most are a quick retry. Match the message you saw below. For the full setup steps, see How to Connect Your LinkedIn Account with Your Email and Password. First thing to check: you have about 3 minutes to complete any verification step. Most errors here just mean the window expired or a code/credential was off: restart and try again.

"LinkedIn rejected the credentials. Check your email and password."

Your LinkedIn email or password was incorrect.

The sign-in form stays open and pre-filled, so correct the typo and click Connect again. If you're sure they're right, try logging in to LinkedIn directly in your browser to confirm the credentials work.

"No verification code was provided in time. Enter the code you received and try again."

The 3-minute verification window expired before the code was entered.

Restart the sign-in and enter the code as soon as it arrives, have your email inbox or phone ready before you start.

"The verification code was rejected by LinkedIn. Check the code and try again."

The code entered didn't match.

Double-check the most recent code (older codes expired), and make sure you're reading the right one if several arrived. Then restart and re-enter it.

"Could not switch to SMS verification."

This appears after clicking Verify using SMS when SMS isn't registered as a two-factor method on your LinkedIn account. A phone number on your profile isn't enough.

Fix it one of two ways:

  • In LinkedIn's Sign in & security settings, set up two-step verification with Phone Number (SMS), then retry, or
  • Approve the sign-in with the notification in the LinkedIn app instead.

LinkedIn shows a security check (CAPTCHA)

If LinkedIn presents a CAPTCHA during sign-in, PhantomBuster solves it automatically and continues. You normally won't need to do anything.

A CAPTCHA is more likely when the sign-in location looks unusual for your account, so a stable proxy matching your usual location can reduce how often it appears.

I got a failure email mentioning "Untitled LinkedIn Sign In"

That's the automation that handles the connection in the background, so a failed sign-in arrives as a standard automation-failure email.

The reason in the email maps to the fixes above:

  • Bad credentials → wrong email or password.
  • Verification code timeout → the ~3-minute window passed.
  • Code rejected → an incorrect verification code was submitted.
  • SMS switch failed → "Verify using SMS" was used but SMS isn't set up as a 2FA method.
  • App challenge not resolved → the app notification was never approved (the LinkedIn app isn't installed, or it was ignored/denied).

Frequently asked questions

Why does the error come from "Untitled LinkedIn Sign In"?

The email/password connection runs as a background automation with that name, so any failure is reported as an automation-failure email. It's expected: the message body tells you what to fix.

LinkedIn keeps asking me to verify even with 2FA off, is that a bug?

No. LinkedIn decides when to require verification, independently of your 2FA setting. It isn't something PhantomBuster controls.

My authenticator app is my only 2FA method, can I still connect?

Yes, enter the code from your authenticator app in the "Two-factor code required" modal.

Nothing worked, how do I connect another way?

You can still connect with your LinkedIn session cookie or the browser extension.
See How to Connect Your LinkedIn Account to PhantomBuster (session cookie / extension).
