Some Phantoms are no longer actively supported or updated. We call these deprecated Phantoms. You can still use them if they’re already in your workspace, but they may not function reliably. This guide explains why certain Phantoms are deprecated, what to expect if you keep using one, and how to move forward.
Why certain Phantoms are deprecated
To keep PhantomBuster stable and aligned with platform changes, we sometimes retire Phantoms that no longer meet performance or reliability standards.
A Phantom might be deprecated if:
- It requires frequent maintenance due to ongoing platform changes.
- Its use case is narrow or no longer relevant for most users.
- It's been replaced by a more powerful or reliable alternative.
Deprecation helps us to focus on improving the most impactful automations.
Can you still use deprecated Phantoms
Yes, if the Phantom was added to your workspace before it was deprecated, it will remain available and may still run successfully (depending on the platform's current behavior).
However, there are key limitations:
- No support: We don’t provide troubleshooting for deprecated Phantoms.
- No updates: These Phantoms are no longer maintained or improved.
- Unreliable results: If the target platform changes, the Phantom may stop working without warning.
We recommend monitoring your runs closely and having a backup plan in case the automation stops working.
What happens when you open a deprecated Phantom
When you open a deprecated Phantom, you’ll see two clear visual indicators:
-
A popup message explaining that the Phantom is no longer supported or maintained.
-
A persistent banner at the top of the Phantom’s page to remind you of its deprecated status.
These indicators are designed to help you make informed decisions before using a Phantom that may no longer function reliably.
Will deprecated Phantoms return
No, we don’t plan to bring back deprecated Phantoms. That said, we’re always open to hearing from you.
