Whether you’re onboarding new members, running a community, or managing internal teams, sending the same message manually to multiple people in Slack is… a time-waster.

With PhantomBuster, you can automate this entire process in just two steps:

  1. Extract users from a Slack channel,
  2. Send a personalized message to each of them.

Let’s dive into the workflow.

🧰 What you’ll need

  • A PhantomBuster account,
  • Access to your Slack workspace (you must be logged in via browser),
  • A Slack cookie (PhantomBuster will auto-detect it from your browser session),
  • Two Phantoms:
    • Slack Channel User Extractor
    • Slack Message Sender

📌 Step 1: Extract Slack channel members

First, head to the Slack Channel User Extractor Phantom.

Here’s how to configure it:

  1. Slack Cookie: If you’re logged into Slack on your browser, PhantomBuster auto-detects your cookie.
  2. Workspace URL: Go to your Slack workspace > click the name in the top-left > copy the workspace URL (e.g., https://yourcompany.slack.com) and paste it into the Phantom.
  3. Channel Input: Enter the name of the Slack channel you want to extract users from (e.g., #introductions).
  4. Settings:
    • If you’re extracting from just one channel, no need to tweak advanced settings.
    • For large channels, you can limit the number of users per run (e.g., 20 for testing).
  5. Advanced Settings (optional):
    • Scrape all channels,
    • Scrape custom fields,
    • Name your output file.

Click Save, then Launch the Phantom.

✅ Output: A list of Slack users from that channel — including names, job titles, and Slack IDs.

📩 Step 2: Send Slack messages automatically

Now head to the Slack Message Sender Phantom.

Configuration steps:

  1. Workspace URL: Same as before — paste your Slack workspace URL.
  2. Select Users to Message:
    • Choose the previous Slack User Extractor Phantom as your input source.
  3. Write Your Message:
    • Customize the message. For example:

Welcome to this Slack channel! If you have any questions or want to connect, feel free to ping me. 😊

    • You can personalize this with variables like {firstName} if needed.
  4. Settings:
    • Set how many messages to send per launch,
    • Choose whether to send only to active users,
    • Name your export file (optional).

Click Save, then Launch your Phantom.

✅ Each selected Slack user will receive your message — no manual copy-paste needed.

✅ Why this is powerful

  • Save Time: Reach dozens of people in seconds.
  • Stay Personal: Tailor your message once, and reuse it at scale.
  • Boost Engagement: Great for community managers, internal teams, or onboarding flows.

🔒 Important notes

  • You must have access to the Slack channel (and Slack workspace).
  • PhantomBuster uses your session cookie — so make sure you're logged in.
  • Always respect Slack’s community guidelines and avoid spamming users.
