LinkedIn keeps logging out your accounts? Here's what might be causing it (and how to prevent it)
If you're seeing a pattern of LinkedIn session cookies going invalid or your accounts being logged out automatically during Phantom runs, especially with tools like Sales Navigator Search Export, you're not alone. Here's a breakdown of what can cause this, and how to reduce the chances of it happening.
Common causes of LinkedIn disconnections
1. Outdated or missing User Agent
- When you connect a LinkedIn account to PhantomBuster, the session cookie and User Agent are both captured.
- If your Chrome browser is out of date, the User Agent info might be missing or invalid.
- An outdated or mismatched User Agent can cause LinkedIn to flag or disconnect the session.
2. Too many Phantoms using the same session
- Running multiple Phantoms with one session cookie increases risk.
- Try starting with one Phantom per account and slower launch frequencies.
3. LinkedIn activity overlap:
- If your client (or teammate) is using the same LinkedIn account manually while Phantoms are running, LinkedIn may detect this as suspicious.
- Manual and automated actions both count toward rate limits.
4. New or underdeveloped LinkedIn accounts:
- Newly created or inactive accounts are more likely to be flagged.
- Premium accounts and mature profiles tend to be more stable.
5. Location mismatches (advanced setups only):
- Most PhantomBuster users do not need a proxy to automate LinkedIn safely.
- In some specific cases, for example, when automating a LinkedIn account that belongs to someone else and is usually accessed from a different country, a proxy may be used to match the account’s usual location.
- If you use a proxy, make sure its location matches where the LinkedIn account is normally used. Using a proxy incorrectly can increase the risk of disconnections.
6. Other LinkedIn automation tools or extensions:
- Running additional automation or browser extensions alongside PhantomBuster can interfere with cookies and cause conflicts.
How to prevent disconnections
- Update your Chrome browser:
- Reconnect the account by:
Removing the session cookie from the Users & Accounts page.
Re-adding it using the “Add LinkedIn Account” button.
- Make sure you're using separate Chrome sessions for each LinkedIn account.
- Stick to one Phantom per session cookie at first.
- Scale up automation gradually.
- Ensure your User Agent always comes from the same browser where the account is logged in.
