What you'll need

What you’ll get

  • Core member info
  • Connection degree and join date

→ See the full breakdown of all output fields in the detailed section below.

Before you start

  • Group membership: You must be able to see the members list from your LinkedIn account.
    • For private groups, this means you must be a member.
    • For public groups, you can export members without joining.
  • Awareness of LinkedIn’s safety limits:
    • LinkedIn only displays the most recent 2,500 members per group.
    • The Phantom cannot access older members beyond this limit.
    • We recommend exporting a maximum of 1 group or up to 2,500 members per day to keep your account safe.

Step 1: Connect your LinkedIn account

To let the Phantom act on your behalf:

  1. Install the PhantomBuster browser extension and connect your LinkedIn session in one click.
  2. If you’re not using Chrome or Firefox, you can retrieve your session cookie manually (see our cookie guide).

Check your browser user agent
Make sure your browser is up to date before connecting your account.
→ If your Chrome or Firefox version is outdated, your session cookie may expire much more quickly, and you’ll need to reconnect often.

Step 2: Provide group URLs

Tell the Phantom which LinkedIn groups you want to process.

  • Paste a single LinkedIn group URL.
  • Provide a Google Sheet with LinkedIn group URLs (make sure it’s shared with “Anyone with the link”).
  • Upload a CSV file with LinkedIn group URLs (make sure it’s publicly accessible, and note that CSV upload is only available on paid plans).

→ If you’re using a spreadsheet, the Phantom defaults to the first column (A). To use a different column, enter the column’s header name in the field “Name of column containing group URLs.”

Step 3: Configure extraction settings

Fine-tune how many groups and members are processed per run:

  1. Number of groups to scrape per launch (optional):
    • This setting only applies if you are using a spreadsheet or CSV file as input.
    • Default = empty which will include all groups in your input.
    • If you’re processing many groups from a spreadsheet, make sure to set a limit here to avoid overloading the Phantom.
  2. Number of members to scrape per group (optional):
    • Default = 2,500 members (LinkedIn’s maximum).
    • If you want to export all members from a group, leave the field blank.
  3. Reprocess all group URLs during each launch (optional):
    • Select this option to keep revisiting the same group(s) and capture new members who’ve joined since the last run.
  4. Remove duplicate profiles between groups (optional):
    • Useful if you’re exporting multiple groups and don’t want repeated profiles in your results.
  5. Only retrieve members joining after a specific date (optional):
    • Enter a date to filter out older members and focus only on recent joiners.

Safety tip:
Stay within 1 group or 2,500 members per day (Basic) and spread activity across office hours. If your account is well warmed up, you may gradually increase volume, but going too far beyond will force frequent session cookie updates.

Step 4: Select launch frequency

Choose how often the Phantom should run:

  1. Launch manually: Start the Phantom yourself whenever you need.
  2. Launch once at a specific time: schedule a one-time run at a set date and time.
  3. Launch repeatedly: schedule regular runs (e.g. once per day, several times during working hours).
  4. Launch after another Phantom: chain automations together so this Phantom starts right after another finishes.
  5. Advanced scheduling: customize the exact minutes, hours, days, or months when the Phantom should run.

→ For a complete walkthrough of scheduling options, see our guide to scheduling Phantoms automatically.

Step 5 (Optional): Advanced settings

Advanced settings are available if you want to fine-tune how your Phantom runs, but by default they’re already optimized for most use cases.

We recommend leaving them as they are unless a guide specifically instructs you to change something.

→ For a detailed overview of all advanced options (like execution limits, retries, email notifications, proxies, webhooks, and file management), see our Advanced settings guide.

Launch and results

When you’re ready:

  1. Click Launch to start your Phantom.
  2. Once it finishes, open the Results tab in the Phantom console to see extracted member profiles.
  3. Download your results as a CSV or JSON file, or view them as a dynamic list on the LinkedIn Leads page.

To learn how to export your data to Google Sheets, integrate with other tools, or reuse it in more automations, check our Access and Export your Phantom Results guide.

Export and input limits on the Free plan
If you’re on the Free plan or Free trial, some features are limited:
- CSV exports include only the first 10 rows of results.
- CSV download links (for dynamic viewing in Google Sheets or integrations) are not available.
- JSON exports are not available.
- CSV upload as an input method is not supported.
To unlock all features, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan.

Tips and troubleshooting

Common pitfalls

  • Not having access to the group’s member list → for private groups you must be a member; for public groups, visibility is enough.
  • Providing profile, post, or company URLs instead of group URLs.
  • Assuming the Phantom will resume where it left off for the same group → it does not. Always plan your extraction volume accordingly.
  • Expecting to extract more than 2,500 members per group, LinkedIn restricts this.
    • Workaround (Sales Navigator only): Search for the group in Sales Navigator and apply different filters (e.g., by location, title, or industry). This allows you to segment the group and retrieve more than 2,500 members across multiple filtered searches. Use the Sales Navigator Search Export Phantom to extract those results.
